The Australian Gospel Music Festival (AGMF) was great this year. It's been pretty darn good each year, but this was the best one yet. We had a great time up in Toowoomba meeting a few of the locals, listening to some great music (especially our own), and generally having a good time. Our Festival Cafe show went really well. We had a big crowd and lot of crowd support (ie they stayed) and a lot of good feedback afterwards. (It's the feedback during the performance you don't
want.) We opened our set with 'Roll On Like A River' which was a fine choice. I think the thigh slapping rocker of a song reminded many of a good ol' hootenanny and thus put them all in the right mood for the rest of the gig. We finished with
'I'm Not Flying Away' and promptly left the stage. There will be photos on our website soon for you to look at.
I, (Geoff, just to make sure there's no confusion here), set the AGMF record for passing a football the fastest for the 25-29yr age bracket. That's not bad when you consider there were over 10000 people there over the Easter long weekend. It came about
when I was challenged by my younger brother, Greg, who held the record for the 20-24yr age bracket. He had passed a footy 60km/h. That's darn quick with only a couple of steps before take-off... so out I went to show Greg who the
fastest passer in the family was. I challenged him to a "Pass Off" and, by crikey, it was a
corker. Unfortunately Greg couldn't quite back up his own record while I went flying past the 60km/h mark heading for a speeding ticket! Let's just say that when I threw 63km/h it was probably more of a highlight for those around than watching Guy Sebastian perform. (I didn't see his name on the record board, by the way.) It was the third fastest throw of the whole weekend. (The other 2 that were faster were probably wind assisted anyway.)
